Onion

Onions have been noted throughout history – one creation story even has onions outside the gates of Eden.  Certainly the Egyptians grew them and depicted them on tombs. All onions need a well drained, fertile soil with plenty of organic matter to both feed the plants and loosen up the soil.  Many gardeners are generally not aware that onions may be planted in the fall for spring harvesting.
